I’m Annie Shapiro, Founder of The Mindshift Studio

I’m so glad you’re here.

Annie Shapiro is a trauma-focused, queer-affirming psychotherapist based in Miami Beach, specializing in complex PTSD, developmental trauma, and nervous system dysregulation. Her work is grounded in contemporary neuroscience and focused on treating the underlying neurobiological patterns that sustain trauma responses beyond conscious awareness.

She works with adults experiencing chronic anxiety, emotional reactivity, shutdown, somatic distress, and persistent patterns that have not resolved through insight-based therapy alone. Treatment emphasizes nervous system regulation and integration using advanced, evidence-based approaches including EMDR, clinical hypnosis, and somatic, and parts-oriented strategies, allowing trauma to be processed in a way that is both precise and titrated.

Annie studied psychology at Boston University and brings a nuanced understanding of the mind–body relationship to her clinical work. Her professional perspective is informed by her own extensive nervous system work following years as an elite athlete and her experience managing an autoimmune condition—providing a sophisticated, embodied understanding of how chronic stress and trauma shape both physiological and psychological functioning.

Her clinical style is attuned, collaborative, and intentionally paced. Therapy is highly individualized, relationally grounded, and designed to help clients move out of survival states toward greater regulation, coherence, and internal stability.
